The Latest Transfer Update: Sergi Roberto Joins Como

The latest transfer news has revealed that Sergi Roberto, the former Barcelona player, has agreed to join Como on a free transfer. After leaving Barcelona, Roberto found a new home with Como, following in the footsteps of his former teammate Cesc Fabregas.

It has been reported that Como coach Fabregas, who is also a former Barcelona player, played a significant role in convincing Roberto to choose the Serie A newcomers over other interested clubs such as Ajax and Fiorentina. This reunion with Fabregas seems to have been a deciding factor in Roberto’s decision to join Como.

Having spent 18 years at Barcelona, Roberto made a total of 373 appearances for the first team. He even held the captaincy last season. Talks of renewing his contract with Barcelona were in place, but due to the club’s financial constraints, they couldn’t assure his registration with LaLiga.

Roberto is not the only Spanish player at Como, as Fabregas has also brought in Pepe Reina, Alberto Moreno, and potentially Real Madrid’s Nico Paz. Additionally, the team has seen the arrival of over 10 new players, including former Manchester United and Real Madrid defender Raphaël Varane, Alberto Dossena, and Andrea Belotti.

After 23 years, Como has made a comeback to the Italian top flight following their promotion from Serie B last season. However, their return didn’t start as they hoped, with a 3-0 defeat to Juventus in their first match back in Serie A.

Sergi Roberto’s move to Como marks a new chapter in his career after his long and successful tenure at Barcelona. The influence of Fabregas and the opportunity to be part of a rejuvenated Como squad seem to have been the driving forces behind his decision. Only time will tell how Roberto will adapt to his new surroundings and contribute to Como’s ambitions in Serie A.
